This batch of cards was made using the Carta Bella Let’s Travel Collection Kit. I’ve used the kit before and was hoping to finish it up but there was too much left to use in one card making session. Instead I pulled out sheets featuring my favorite images and a couple sheets of tone-on-tone paper to use for backgrounds.
For the first card I went with a simple layout which featured a large focal panel. I love the fun car images and wanted to ensure as many as possible could be seen. For the background I used the cream and pink “basketweave” paper. To keep the card from being too pink I used a solid light blue cardstock for the fish tail banner across the card and added a single pink glitter Love from Lizi peel-off. The small banner running down the card is a scrap of red and pink graph paper print. For the sentiment I die cut a circle from the same pink cardstock I used for all of the matting.
The next card is my favorite. I used the fun airplane print for the focal panel and a blue tone-on-tone print for the background. I found a scrap of glitter paper in my stash, which perfectly matched the background of the airplane print, to use for the large banner behind the focal panel. As there was already a lot of blue with the background, I used a scrap of mustard yellow cardstock for the banner across the focal panel. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and matted it on aqua cardstock. For a finishing touch I added 3 pink brads in the upper left corner of the card.
The last card is incredibly simple. I wanted to use the scooter print and based on the size of the images and how close they are, I knew I would have to use a large piece of the paper. I didn’t want a bunch of partial scooters so was careful when creating the focal panel – leaving most of the scooter on the right side and trimming off the back wheels of the scooters on the left. For matting I used more of the red and pink graph paper and a blue Love from Lizi peel-off. Another small strip of the graph paper was used for the small fish tail banner behind the sentiment.
I really like the weight and texture of Carta Bella papers and they are definitely good quality. My only “issue” is I wish I had purchased this in a 6×6 size instead of the 12×12 kit. The size and spacing of some of the images made it more challenging to use on A2 sized cards.
