For the next batch of cards I decided to finish up a 6x6 paper pad. I've used this paper at least once before with the last batch focused on the included cut-aparts. I only had a couple full 6x6 sheets and the rest was just scraps in varying sizes. When I had enough scraps in the right sizes I made duplicate cards. I did bring in solid color cardstock for several backgrounds and accents like banners and borders.
For sentiments I used Echo Park's A Dog's Tail Lucky Dog stamp set and a Recollections dog themed stamp set. I tried to keep the cards fairly flat but did bring in some bakers twine and brads for embellishment.
For this card I used 2 smaller pieces of the green tone on tone polka dot paper to create the background. Any gap would be covered by the horizontal panel. To add interest to the dog print strip I added a punched border to the top and bottom edges. Some brown/white bakers twine wrapped around the left side of the card was added for embellishment. A simple "lucky dog" sentiment was stamped and added in the lower right corner of the dog print panel.
This card uses a few smaller scraps for the focal panel and the striped panel across the card. For the background I used an off white shimmer cardstock. Everything is matted in a burgundy cardstock with the same cardstock used for the horizontal banner. I added a couple burgundy brads to fill in some of the empty space in the upper right corner. To finish the card I stamped the same "lucky dog" sentiment directly onto the background.
These cards are extremely simple with a pattern paper for the vertical panel and a dog words paper for the focal panel. I used different cardstock for the backgrounds picking colors that coordinated with the vertical panels. With all the dog words I skipped adding any additional sentiment. For embellishment I stamped and fussy cut a dog from the A Dog's Tail stamp set and added it to the upper right corner of the focal panel. For a bit more embellishment I added 3 small brads below the focal panel.
This card features another simple layout with 2 printed panels and a solid color background. I used a blue plaid print for one panel and a dog equipment print for the focal panel. For embellishment I wrapped the focal panel with more brown/white bakers twine. The "Dogs and Kisses" sentiment is from the Recollections stamp set.
I had enough scrap to create 2 more focal panels out of the dog equipment paper. But I only had 1 sheet of the coordinating stiped paper. I wanted to use both focal panels so I went through my scrap paper and found a black and white stripe to use for the 2nd card. One card used a light blue cardstock for the matting and brads and the other card used black cardstock and brads. The sentiment is also from the Recollections stamp set.
Even though the cards were made from scraps and I brought in several papers that were not from the collection I think the cards turned out quite nice. They all have a clean not overly embellished look and would work for any recipient.
