Well, my goal of doing weekly posts has failed. I started the year out well, but by April I was down to one post for the month and I'm just squeaking in a post in May. I've been making lots of cards (I finished 3 partial Echo Park collection kits) but I just haven't been motivated to take pictures and write about them.
So for this post I'm sharing some cards I made earlier and just hadn't gotten around to posting. I had used the Home Again paper pad previously to make a few sympathy cards and there was still a good amount of the paper remaining. In my ongoing effort to use up my supplies I figured I'd make a few cards. I only ended up making 4 cards but every little bit helps.
For the first couple of cards I went with very simple layouts where I would be using most of the 6x6 sheet of paper for the background. Both cards use a plaid background and a floral focal panel. For the sympathy card I also used a scrap of polka dot paper for the narrow strip across the card. I kept the embellishments to a minimum only using some Love from Lizi peel-offs on the sympathy card and a few square brads on the get well card.
For this set of cards I focused on using up some of the scraps. The blue and white stripe paper wasn't wide enough for a background. So, I picked out a sketch where I was able to split the paper into 2 pieces and cover the gap with the wood grain print. For the next card, I paired up a few scraps and used a solid green paper from the paper pad as the background. After laying out the card the background looked too plain. I used the Honey Bee Spring Leaves coverplate die to add some texture.
There were still a couple 6x6 sheets and several scraps left but I was ready to move on to something else. I put the paper away for now but I'm sure I'll pull it out again in the future and make a few more cards.
